Scaling with a Reference
Scaling with a reference will allow you to scale object to a predefined size using reference lines or objects.
- Hit the Scale button located in the modify tool palette.
- The command prompt will prompt you to select the objects you would like to scale. Once you have selected all the objects you would like to scale hit ENTER.
- The command prompt will now ask you to choose a Base Point. This base point will be a point of origin where the objects on your screen grow/shrink from.
- Now it's time to choose a scale factor in which you would like to scale your drawing. Factors above 1 unit will make the drawing larger and factors under 1 will make the drawing smaller.

- The command prompt will prompt you to select the objects you would like to scale. Once you have selected all the objects you would like to scale hit ENTER.
- The command prompt will now ask you to choose a Base Point. This base point will be a point of origin where the objects on your screen grow/shrink from.
- Once you’ve selected you base point, the command prompt will give you the option of [Copy/Reference] à Select [R] for Reference and accept.
- Select your base point once again. Following that selection, select the end your original object point. Then select the final destination. You will notice your object growing.
