Shape Activities

Shape Activites

Please comment your name, an emoji or just saying 'Hey' so I know you have seen the page and are aware of expectations.

Due: April 22 by Midnight

Below are a few shapes in which you will be familiar with. You will be required to draw all four shapes in SketchUp. 2 of the shapes will require the use or Architectural Units and 2 of the shapes will require the use of Decimal units in millimetres.

Based upon the different units necessary, you will therefore have 2 shapes within one SketchUp file along the 'X' axis and 2 shapes within another SketchUp file along the 'X' axis as well. Remember to use the Axes locks in SketchUp to assist you and always pay attention to your measurements bar in the bottom right for accuracy (Good hint for AutoCAD in the future). Also, add some materials or textures to the shape to learn the correct process for doing this. Finally, please label your drawings using the 3D text tool in order to identify your shape.

You will be graded based upon:

10 marks - Accuracy of digital shape representation and size
10 marks - Line neatness on axes
10 marks - Proper Dimensioning

For each pair of shapes depending on their units of measurement.

Make sure you utilize all of the information we discussed in class as well as the tutorial videos here on the website. All of the information you need in order to create the shapes are included in the tutorials or you can ask your teacher for clarification.

Have fun! SketchUp is a really fun program that hopefully you will enjoy - It is also a great base for more complex CAD programs such as AutoCAD.
