What is WALLDO?
Objective
Students will practice a variety of shots by following the WALLDO sequencing techniques. Students should shoot and edit these shots using their cellphones in the exact order of the acronym WALLDO.
Bonus coverage
In addition to capturing the camera angles, you must incorporate the interview composition shot as well. So at the end of the WALLDO recordings, students will compose an interview rule of third shot. Then, students must practice asking their subjects to “say their name and spell it.” This is a skill you will need to test audio levels, as well as capture the proper spelling of their interview’s name, to create a lower third graphic later.

Task
Now it’s time for you to go out and practice on your own.
1. Brainstorm an idea that you think will make a good sequence and do your best to organize the shots in the order you want to shoot them on the planning sheet you can find and download below. You can present these ideas to your teacher and discuss your ideas for any feedback and approval.
2. Using your cellphones, select any subject or person, and record 10 seconds each for all the WALLDO camera shots. Go outside, or stay indoors…it doesn’t matter. But do NOT record inanimate objects. Find something that moves or has some action.
3. Once shooting is completed, organize footage using WeVideo (Check out the videos below to see how to use WeVideo and you will need to sing up for the program using our my.ctk.ca emails - don't worry, it's free!).
4. Select the best 3-5 seconds from each of the WALLDO shots you captured, and edit them together.
5. Add the interview shot at the end, after the WALLDO shots have been placed in order.
6. Replace the natural sound of the shots with royalty-free music if you wish. DO NOT replace the audio from the interview with music.
7. Add titles to each of the shots listing what they are: Wide, Angled, Low, Linking, Depth, Opposite, and the interview rule of thirds shot with “say your name and spell it.”
8. Save the project and export the video into a movie file for assignment submission.
